About Joel E. Siegel
Joel specializes in a full range of domestic and foreign patent and trademark matters in the mechanical and chemical fields. He has extensive experience in patent reexamination and patent reissue matters. He has also been involved in negotiating and drafting license, distribution, and research and development agreements throughout the world, bringing business knowledge to the practice of law to meet the real-world needs of his clients.
He served as an Examiner in the United States Patent and Trademark Office, examining patent applications in the land-moving vehicle arts. Joel has also been Patent and Trademark Counsel for a Fortune 500 company, responsible for all intellectual property matters there, including patent prosecution, interferences, opinions, licensing, trademarks and copyrights. Familiar product areas include a wide range of medical devices, water, and wastewater treatment systems, railway tank cars, cooling towers, evaporators, fasteners, heat exchangers, electronic controls, specialty chemicals, and sulphur treatment systems.
Joel has also enjoyed working with a Fortune 500 medical device company in connection with reexamination proceedings which have resulted in damage awards that have exceeded $700 million for our client.
