Mark has been an associate of the firm since September 2005, involved with many aspects of patent prosecution, including writing and prosecuting patent applications, writing appeal briefs, drafting instruction letters to foreign associates and other prosecution-related tasks. He has also performed Freedom to Operate analyses for several clients of the firm.

Previously Mark worked as an IP associate at Athersys, a biotechnology company in Cleveland, Ohio. While there, Mark co-authored an article on the doctrine of accidental anticipation [Anne Brown, Mark Polyakov, The Accidental and Inherent Anticipation Doctrines: Where do We Stand and Where are We Going?, 4 J. Marshall Rev. Intell. Prop. L. 63 (2004).] From May 2002 until May 2004, Mark worked as a Law Clerk at Athersys, performing legal research and writing office memoranda.

Mark is fluent in Russian, has a working knowledge of Italian and frequently travels to Europe.
